A new mark has been developed by the Silk Mark Organization of India to promote silk. The Silk Mark joins the existing wool, linen and cotton marks being used to promote natural fibers in India. Like cotton, silk has to distinguish itself from cheaper synthetic fibers which can feel similar to an unwary consumer.

The Bangalore-based Silk Mark Organisation of India has launched the silk mark scheme, which is sponsored by the Central Silk Board under the Ministry of Textiles.
